The reason
Sometimes the first suspect only tells part of the story.
This 1977 Yamaha FS1 DX came to us because the engine was not running well. The ignition seemed to be the culprit. Several people had already looked at it, but no solution had been found.
The inspection
Our inspection showed that a few aftermarket parts were throwing off the ignition timing. But it did not stop there: the engine was also due for a rebuild.
The work
We tackled the whole thing. An engine rebuild, the ignition set to the correct timing and then the fine tuning. At the same time we also renewed the chain, sprockets and rear tyre.
The result
You can hear the result in the video. This FS1 runs smoothly again and is a real pleasure to ride. Exactly what a classic like this was made for: to be enjoyed, kilometre after kilometre.
