Honda CB50J: 46 years with the same owner

The owner bought his Honda CB50J new in 1980. Today, after 46 years and approximately 35,000 kilometres, he is still its first and only owner. This is more than a moped: it is the familiar Honda from his youth, with a history he has built himself.

That connection lives on. They can also enjoy it together as a couple on two-up rides, with their own Honda as a familiar companion.

The owner reported a vibration from around 6,000 rpm. He suspected a crankshaft problem himself. This was his own suspicion, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Piston Classics carried out a complete engine rebuild in our own workshop. This project concerns the engine, not a full restoration of the entire moped. We work as a team of four.

The photographs show the open engine during the rebuild, followed by assembly on the workbench. The video above shows the rebuilt engine running, with its original engine sound.

The Honda CB50J has now been collected. The collection photograph shows the couple with their blue Honda in the workshop. After 46 years, this moped remains with the same owner, with room for new memories and enjoyable two-up rides.
